About me
Tyler McConnell is an attorney with Rodgers Selvera PLLC, where he represents writers, artists, entrepreneurs, and other creative professionals in matters involving entertainment, intellectual property, business law, and estate and legacy planning. His practice includes a particular focus on nonfiction authors and independent and self-published writers, advising clients on publishing agreements, intellectual property protection, business matters, and the commercialization of their work.
Tyler earned his Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Houston and his J.D. from Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego. Since beginning his legal career in 2011, he has worked extensively with members of Houston’s creative community and has maintained a longstanding relationship with Texas Accountants and Lawyers for the Arts (TALA).
His work with artists and authors also led Tyler to develop a practice focused on intellectual property inheritance and legacy planning. He advises creators on protecting copyrights and other creative assets not only during their careers, but as part of their long-term estate and legacy planning.
In addition to his legal practice, Tyler serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors of The Journey School of Houston, a therapeutic school serving twice-exceptional students, where he also volunteers with student programming.
Through his multidisciplinary practice, Tyler helps authors and other creators navigate the legal and business considerations surrounding their work—from creation and publication to ownership, commercialization, and long-term protection.
