About me
originally from Chile, but I now call Houston home with my wife and family. I am happy to join you to share an excerpt from my manuscript which is much longer. It is titled: This is my first time reading your work in public, so I am grateful for your attention. And if you have any critiques . . . please keep them to yourself.
Retirement did not diminish my curiosity. It also confronted me with a new reality shared by many older adults: the gradual appearance of aches, stiffness, and physical limitations that accompany advancing age. Instead of accepting them as inevitable, I found myself approaching them with the same curiosity that had guided me throughout my professional life.
If anything, it gave me more time to observe, reflect, and ask questions that my professional responsibilities had often left unanswered.
Throughout my career, observation had always been one of my principal tools. As a clinician, I learned that careful observation frequently revealed details that no textbook could provide. As a teacher, I tried to encourage students to think rather than merely memorize. Retirement did not change those habits. It simply redirected them toward a different subject.
That subject gradually became myself.Executive Director of the Center of Professional Rehabilitation for the Disabled" under the Social Security Administration of Chile.
